Spirit of Fear
by Ray Pompa
There is an unclean spirit today that is attacking people all over the world. It's the kind of spirit that will kill or destroy anyone who might be ignorant of the truth. Are we not even commanded not to fear? The word "Fear not" occurs at least 63 times in the Bible and Fear and Not 331 times, because to fear in this case is not to trust, and not trusting in God....well, is it a sin not to obey God?
When you Trust in God, you demonstrate faith at his word.
We all have had fear to some degree for what ever reason. The context of fear here is obedience to Gods word because if we trust Him, then we have no reason to fear. Is it a sin to fear, or do we miss the mark when we just don't trust in God? Undoubtedly there is at least consequence for not trusting God completely.
The Lord himself shows a demonstration of faith in the presence of turmoil.
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
The world may be in a panic. But we as believers in Christ have the assurance of our salvation, and peace of mind.
As for the rest of the world?
Hebrews 10:31 "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
